New movie from Zombieland creators may have greatest title ever

Zombieland writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have written a script for a new film—based on a cult fave graphic novel—that could have the coolest title ever. So—what is it?

Cowboy Ninja Viking, based on Image Comics’ graphic novel by AJ Lieberman, follows a covert government program to turn schizophrenic patients into assassins. The film will focus on a patient with the abilities of a cowboy, ninja and Viking who escapes and goes after the the shady character who runs the program. Coming from the Zombieland team, you know that script has to have some great dark humor mixed in with a heaping dose of action. Continue reading

Zombieland creators ditch that sequel in favor of a zombie sitcom

Zombieland was such a pleasantly surprising sleeper hit in 2009 that it seemed impossible we wouldn’t see a sequel. Well, according to producer Gavin Polone, the sequel might be dead, but in its place we could get something better: a TV “zomcom.”

Though the film ended up working out pretty well for creators Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, they actually pitched Zombieland as a TV show in the first place, way back in 2005. According to Polone, a pilot script was even ordered, but no one picked it up for various reasons. Continue reading
