After months of waiting, the Torchwood drought is almost over! The revamped series (aka Miracle Day) will finally start airing in July, and it won’t be alone. Get ready for a Torchwood web series called Web of Lies, which may or may not star a beautiful badass.
Writer and producer Jane Espenson has been using her Twitter account for evil by teasing fans about Web of Lies. All of her statuses have been hints about the possible casting of Eliza Dushku in the new show.
Great news on the scheduling front today – Torchwood Series 4 (known now as Miracle Day) will air in the USA on the Starz network in July, kicking off on 07.08.11 (note to people in the UK: that’s July 8th, not August 7th).
All you need to know that the premier date is sewn up in the USA, so let’s hope that this show – which has done quite a bit of filming in Wales over the past few months as well as further afield – turns up around the same time in the UK. While it might be nice for Starz to get a bit of a head start as they’re the new home network for the show, it did start over here, right?
On this weeks episode of the ESO podcast, we will be getting a preview of the upcoming Time Gate Sci-Fi Convention to held in Atlanta May 27 – 29th Memorial Day weekend. Then we are joined by Matt from the US Whocast and we visit the Hub in Cardiff and chat about Torchwood Series 1. Come strap in for another fun filled podcast that we like to call Episode 47: The 21st Century is when everything changes, right Jack?

We’re eternally grateful to Russell T. Davies for reviving Doctor Who in 2005, as well as for creating the spin-off series, Torchwood. But sadly, Davies, one of our favorite sci-fi television writers, has announced that it’s about time for him step away from space battles and alien invasions in favor of something more mundane.
Davies told the BBC:
It’s interesting to see how long I can stay in a science fiction world. Personally I think I’m coming to the end of it now, and I’ve saved the world and blown up the world too many times. …
Some of us are waiting for the return of our beloved (and surviving) Torchwood characters with the intensity of a 5-year-old on Christmas Eve. Although we’ll have to keep waiting, these set photos should help pass the time until summer 2011.
The name of the 10-episode season is Torchwood: Miracle Day. For us, Miracle Day is the first day it airs.
SFX scored some awesome set photos, which include Gwen Cooper’s husband, Rhys Williams, holding their baby. And then there’s Captain Jack Harkness. Tanned, handsome Captain Jack Harkness …
When a potential Oscar winner says he’d love to have a part on Doctor Who or Torchwood, it grabs our attention. But when that actor claims he would go for a “bad guy” role, it makes us even MORE excited.
Colin Firth (who most of you know as the ultimate Mr. Darcy in both the 1995 BBC mini-series Pride and Prejudice and The Bridget Jones Diaries movies) has apparently sent twitter all aflutter this weekend when he revealed—in a twitter interview—that he’d love to be in either Doctor Who or Torchwood—and moreso, that he’d love to be a villain! I’m thinking lady and gentlemen we might have our new “MASTER”! Thoughts?
So it seems the Doctor Who universe is getting another fiery red head to add to the ranks. Lauren Ambrose best known for her role as Clair Fisher on “Six Feet Under” is joining the cast of the new season of Torchwood as Jilly Kitzinger, a tough PR maven who is assigned, as the synopses say ambiguously, “the most important client of her career.”
Wow, this sounds actually interesting. I think I’ll be tuning in (like there was ever a doubt about it), Torchwood creator Russell T. Davies revealed the new title and plot of the upcoming American Torchwood series at the Television Critics Association winter press tour Friday. Turns out the working title Torchwood: The New World was a fake. It’s really Torchwood: Miracle Day.
