TFA Episode 13 – Part Two – The One Where JC and Rita Fight Through Con Crud to Continue Reviewing Dragon Con

Listen to Part One of Episode 13

Whenever you attend a major con with a number of people, there’s a significant chance you may develop a cold. After all, being in contact with so many other sniffling, wheezing and coughing sickos can leave you with a lasting effect. This is called Con Crud and both hosts of Transmissions From Atlantis have been infected. It’s okay though, we’re not turning into Zombies or going off the deep end. We’re troopers and we fight through said Crud to bring you Part Two of Episode 13 – our Dragon*Con review.

In this episode, we give you scoop on the host hotels, we go into detail about the Dragon*Con Parade and we share with you our experience meeting Sylvester McCoy, the 7th Doctor (and one of the stars of the new Lord of the Rings flick – the Hobbit). We’ll also tell you which Doctor Who panel was the best of Dragon*Con and take you inside one of the panels with John Barrowman and Kai Owen, stars of Torchwood.

Check it out!

The Schedule follows after the Jump!

TFA Episode 6 – Sci Fi/Horror Shows We Miss and The River/Captain Jack Who Spinoff

Okay, so better late than never – right? TFA Episode 6 is coming at you with our biggest show ever. While sometimes bigger doesn’t mean better – in this case it most certainly is. We give you the news of the weird with testicle eating Fish and an ex-CIA agent claiming the Roswell Crash was really extra-terrestrial (no duh).  We give you the skinny on just which villain Benedict Cumberbatch is playing in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek 2. Rita accuses JC of crushing on the naked Nathan Fillion (of Firefly). Rita goes bonkers for the return of Sailor Moon. We also give our review of the new hit film The Amazing Spider-Man.

Then we go off the deep end, talking about Sci-Fi and Horror shows that are no longer on the air and we miss dearly (Yes Firefly, Stargate SG-1 and Buffy are on the list – among many others).

We have a new segment this week – the Retro Review – where we’ll give a new review of old tv shows and movies. In our Transmissions Received segment, we have best selling author of the Wool series, Hugh Howey in for a chat on remarkable trip to the top of the Amazon Best Seller charts as an independent author.

Rita goes Harry Potter nutzo as we review the book series in Rita’s Reading Review and preview Ascendio 2012 – the Con later this week in Orlando, Florida.

We have more naked John Barrowman (Torchwood) discussion, could River and Captain Jack end up in a spinoff series (we had it first)? Plus other Doctor Who news.

We wrap up this marathon session by reviewing the last two episodes of True Blood.

We are packed to the gills…watch out!

The schedule and links are after the jump!

Eve Myles teases we may be seeing a Torchwood movie in 2013

A torchwood movie in 2013? Eve Myles things so!By Nathalie Caron, Source: Blastr.com;

Despite the overall meh-ness that was Torchwood: Miracle Day, Gwen Cooper herself, actress Eve Myles, is hoping Torchwood fans will at least get the closure they deserve (yes, we do!) through either another series or a movie. But don’t hold your breath until at least 2013. Continue reading

Captain Jack returning to ‘Doctor Who’?

Source: USA Weekend

Could Captain Jack Harkness be returning to BBC’s sci-fi hit “Doctor Who”?

Although USA Weekend recently reported the future of the show “Torchwood” (a spin-off series starring the immortal, time-traveling adventurer Captain Jack) still is in limbo, “Doctor Who” writer Stephen Moffat has supposedly expressed an interest in having the character return. John Barrowman, who plays Captain Jack, has shared the screen with the ninth and tenth doctors, but has yet to be featured in an episode with the current doctor, played by Matt Smith.

“I would love to cross paths with the new Doctor,” Barrowman told USA Weekend. “I’d be totally up for it.”

John Barrowman IS Capt. Jack, tackles thief in hotel robbery

John Barrowman IS Captain JackBy Nathalie Caron, Source: Blastr.com

We knew Torchwood’s Captain Jack Harkness was a self-sacrificing, heroic man (he’s immortal in the series, after all) but it also seems that the man portraying him, actor John Barrowman, is as much 100% hero as is his TV counterpart (minus the immortality, of course).

According to Wales Online Barrowman, who was staying at the Scottish city’s Radisson Blu hotel while currently playing the role of Robinson Crusoe in a Glasgow pantomime, and who was returning with his parents from a concert in Newcastle, dragged a fleeing teen to the ground in order to subdue him. Eve Myles says Torchwood is ‘inappropriate’ for Who crossover

Rememeber when Gwen was on Dr. Who?By Nathalie Caron, Source: Blastr.com

Eve Myles, who plays kick-ass Torchwood character Gwen Cooper, thinks neither she nor Torchwood will be part of Doctor Who’s upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations in 2013. Why? Because she thinks Torchwood’s more adult themes would be inappropriate for Who. Continue reading
