Karen Gillan says enough is enough to Amy PondBy Nathalie Caron, Source: Blastr.com

Karen Gillan really doesn’t want to come back to Doctor Who after she’s ended her run as the Eleventh Doctor’s companion, Amy Pond, in the upcoming seventh season. Not even in a cameo—insisting that Amy’s exit from the show should be final.

In an interview with IGN, the Scottish red-head has made it pretty clear that she doesn’t want Amy to come back to the TARDIS. Like EVER. Basically, Gillan wants to make sure she’s not gonna pull a Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) or a Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) Continue reading

Moffat walked out on potential Tintin trilogy to focus on Doctor Who

Moffat walking away from TinTin TrilogyBy Trent Moore, Source: Blastr.com

Just how dedicated is current showrunner Steven Moffat to Doctor Who? Dedicated enough to walk away from a sweetheart deal with Steven Spielberg and a potential Tintin film trilogy so he wouldn’t be distracted from the beloved BBC sci-fi program.

Who fans probably already know Moffat co-wrote the recent big-screen adaptation of Tintin, which was coming together right about when former Who showrunner Russell T. Davies handed the series reins to Moffat two seasons ago. Continue reading

‘Sherlock’ won’t return in 2012, executive Sue Vertue reveals

Sherlock won't return in 2012.. Sigh..By Daniel Sperling, Source: Digital Spy

Sherlock executive producer Sue Vertue has dismissed suggestions apparently made by husband Steven Moffat that the programme will return in 2012.

The showrunner was supposed to have said on Friday (January 20) that a third series of the BBC drama – which concluded last Sunday (January 15) – would air later this year.

Moffat also apparently claimed that scenes showing how Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) survived his rooftop plummet in series two finale ‘The Reichenbach Fall’ had already been filmed. Continue reading

Who actor wants his villain to have another shot at the Time Lord

Could your Master be coming backBy Nathalie Caron, Source: Blastr.com

Someone wants another shot at the Doctor (Matt Smith) on Doctor Who. No, no, not at being the Doctor, but at making life for our beloved Time Lord completely and utterly miserable again. (And that’s the way we like it, yes?) And guess who-in-the-name-of-Gallifrey is that dastardly villain?

Yeah, you all know who it is: It’s the Master himself, played by actor John Simm. Continue reading

Steven Moffat teases the return of a Doctor Who fan favorite

Could we be looking at the Doctor's New Familiar Companion??By Nathalie Caron, Source: Blastr.com

As all of us Whovians know, The Doctor, played by Matt Smith, lies (that’s rule number one). And so does Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat. So when this one tweet teases hints at a (possible) character’s return to the long-running sci-fi series, we should take it with a pinch of salt, right?

The Daily Star is reporting that actress Sophia Myles (Moonlight, Spooks, Thunderbirds) is now being touted as the Time Lord’s next companion.

Why is that? Continue reading

No Two-Parters in Series 7

Steven Moffat says no 2 parters in series 7Source: Doctor Who TV;

More changes are afoot for the next series of Doctor Who. Steven Moffat has said it is unlikely that there will be any two-part stories in Series 7.

”The big thing is, nothing in the next run is starting out as a two-parter,” he confirms in the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine. “At this stage, everything is a single episode, and the only reason anything will become a two-parter is if we think it needs to be; not so much that the story is too long for 45 minutes, because nothing is too long for 45 minutes, but if it feels as though there are two distinct stages to the story… Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ movie will not be a reboot, says Steven Moffat

Doctor Who Movie will not be a clean start says Steven Moffat
By Daniel Sperling, Source: Digital Spy

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has insisted that the planned movie adaptation will be faithful to the show.

Moffat took to Twitter to clear up fears that the BBC show would be completely rebooted by a Hollywood team, adding that Matt Smith or any other actor playing the Doctor when production begins would star in the film.

“To clarify: any Doctor Who movie would be made by the BBC team, star the current TV Doctor and certainly NOT be a Hollywood reboot,” he wrote.

Moffat apparently tweeted in response to “off the cuff” comments made by Doctor Who director David Yates about his plans to begin casting the picture.

“David Yates, great director, was speaking off the cuff, on a red carpet,” he explained. “You’ve seen the rubbish I talk when I’m cornered.”

Yates has stated that a Doctor Who movie will take years to reach the big screen, adding: “It’s a long journey and we’re going to take our time with it.”

‘Doctor Who’ moving to autumn, confirms Steven Moffat

Steven Moffat confirms Fall move Doctor WhoBy Paul Millar, Digital Spy.com

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has confirmed plans for the sci-fi drama to air in the autumn next year.

The 50-year-old, writing in Doctor Who Magazine, dismissed the possibility of the show airing during the summer.

Moffat said: “Doctor Who in the summer? All that running down tunnels, with torches, and the sunlight streaming through your windows and bleaching out the screen? All those barbecues and children playing outside, while on the telly there are green monsters seething in their CGI-enhanced lairs? It’s just not right is it? Be honest. Continue reading

Matt Smith – Making Doctor Who Seventh Series And A 50th Anniversary Special

Matt Smith Talks series 7 and Doctor Who 50th Anniversaryby Brendon Connelly, Soucre: Bleeding Cool.com

Speaking on BBC Breakfast right now, Matt Smith has just spelled out his outstanding commitment to Doctor Who: they start filming in February for 14 new episodes, comprising “a full series”, a Christmas special, and a 50th anniversary special.

That’s 50th anniversary special singular, rather than a little mini-series, as some had speculated.

He was not explicit about these being his final episodes, but he could be seen to be clearly and deliberately ducking that question. Continue reading

John Barrowman wants to do a Who movie (but not with Matt Smith)

Barrowman wants to do Doctor Who movie but without Matt SmithBy Nathalie Caron, Source: Blastr.com

Poor Matt Smith. Seems that Torchwood’s John Barrowman—who is, as always, more than willing to reprise his character of immortal Captain Jack Harkness in anything Who-related—is ready to do a Doctor Who movie … IF it’s done with David Tennant as the Doctor.

That’s what the always-chatty 44-year-old actor revealed in an interview with RTE, where he also broached the subject of what’s happening with Torchwood and why it hasn’t been commissioned for a fifth series yet, even though Torchwood: Miracle Day ended its run a couple weeks back. Continue reading
