After fully recovering from our Pond mourning, we are back at it with another action packed episode of Transmissions From Atlantis. This week, we discuss why George R.R. Martin’s flashbacks aren’t in the Game of Thrones series. We let you know about Chris Carter’s return to television, the latest on American Horror Story and a big time screen legend who is joining the True Blood cast.  We give you our thoughts on Rob Zombie’s Lords of Salem trailer plus some big news from the creator of the Walking Dead. And speaking of our favorite zombies – in Rita’s Reading Review we give you a comparison of the Walking Dead graphic novel and the television series.

In our retro review we give our full review of the Indiana Jones Blu-Ray box set.

AMC Options Kirkman’s “Thief of Thieves” Heist Series

Following the runaway success of “The Walking Dead,” AMC hopes to bring another Robert Kirkman creation to television.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cable network is developing a drama based on “Thief of Thieves,” the new heist comic by Kirkman and artist Shawn Martinbrough (with Nick Spencer co-writing the first story arc). Published by Image/Skybound, the series follows Conrad Paulson, the world’s greatest thief who decides to steal only what’s already been stolen in an effort to atone for all of his wrongdoings. No character is guaranteed tomorrow in a show like AMC’s The Walking Dead, but it seems at least one recurring guest star should be sticking around for most of season three. Can you guess who?

TV Line is reporting that Lauren Cohan, who plays Hershel’s daughter Maggie, has been promoted to a series regular for the upcoming third season. Maggie started out just chewing scenery in early season two, but picked up a bit more screen time after brewing up a romance with everyone’s favorite forager Glenn. Continue reading

AMC’s “The Walking Dead” Finds Its Michonne

In the aftermath of the bloody Season 2 finale of “The Walking Dead,” AMC has announced the casting of “Treme” actress >Danai Gurira as Michonne, the sword-wielding heroine of the long-running horror comic.

The news comes less than a month after the addition of veteran English actor David Morrissey (“Doctor Who,” “State of Play”) as The Governor, the ruthless dictator of Woodbury, Georgia. The two fan-favorite-characters play central roles in the third season of the hit television series as the survivors move from Hershel Greene’s farm to, presumably, The Prison. Continue reading

The master swordsman and tough-as-nails survivor from The Walking Dead comic series will be featured in  the newest issue of Playboy, but not how you think! Not a centerfold, but a 6-page orgin story by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard.

‘The Walking Dead’: David Morrissey cast as The Governor

AMC has announced that British actor David Morrissey is to play the role of the The Governor in the third season of The Walking Dead. Morrissey is best known for his starring role in the original U.K. TV version of State of Play. His many other credits include the Red Riding trilogy, Centurion, Doctor Who, and The Deal, in which he played future British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

The Governor is the most famous villain to have appeared in the Walking Dead comic and fans have long speculated who might play the role. Rumored possible candidates included Eastbound & Down star John Hawkes while special effects legend Tom Savini had actively campaigned for the role, in part because of his resemblance to the character.

The third season of the Walking Dead will comprise 16 episodes and starts production in Atlanta this spring.

Tony Moore is suing Robert Kirkman over compensation from The Walking Dead, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The article states that Moore is claiming to be owed as much as half of the proceeds related to the series, which has been adapted as a popular AMC live-action series. Moore is alleging that he was, as The Hollywood Reporter puts it, “duped” into signing over his interest in The Walking Dead to Kirkman, that he’s received “very little compensation” and hasn’t been able to access profit statements related to the franchise.

Robert Kirkman says don’t believe those Walking Dead rumors

Don't believe everything you read..Remember all those rumors that The Walking Dead was going to use all freelance writers for its second season instead of a full-time writing staff? A source who would know says not to believe them.

In an interview with Heat Vision, Walking Dead comic-book creator Robert Kirkman said that reports of showrunner Frank Darabont using all freelancers to write the show and not having any full-time writers on the payroll are wrong. “We have a full writing staff,” explained Kirkman. “There are three full-time staff writers and a freelancer: Evan Reilly [Rescue Me], Scott Gimple [FlashForward] and Angela Kang [Terriers] and one freelancer.”

AMC Renews ‘The Walking Dead’ for Second Season

Much More Zombies to Come

After just two episodes, AMC’s zombie jamboree has gotten picked up for a second season. No wonder: It’s already drawing in more sweet, tasty viewers than any other cable TV show.

In the no-brainer decision of the week, AMC has pulled the trigger on a 13-episode second season for The Walking Dead, which is turning into a ratings monster—chomping on more 18-49-year-old viewers than anything else in the cable landscape.
