It’s no secret that Fox 2000 is producing a sequel to Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. But we’re shocked to learn one of our favorite actors has joined the cast—Nathan Frakkin’ Fillion.
Fillion is a fanboy favorite, so this is a major grab for producers of Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Sea of Monsters . The actor will join returning stars Logan Lerman (Percy), Alexandra Daddario (Annabeth) and Brandon T. Jackson (Grover).

The once and future Malcolm Reynolds has never shied away from dropping little tributes to Joss Whedon’s late, lamented sci-fi western in his current gig on ABC’s hit cop show. But now he’s going to bring more than an old costume … he’s bringing an old cast member.
Since he’s no longer busy grunting at nerds, spies and nerd-spies, Adam Baldwin is going to drop by Castle and Beckett’s precinct for a guest spot playing a cop named Ethan Slaughter. Browncoats rejoice: EW is reporting that Firefly is returning to basic cable — and Nathan Fillion has something to say about it.
The Science Channel has acquired the rights to the cult-hit and will air the series in its short-lived entirety, plus some new extras. Science Channel will wrap each episode with interstitial segments starring renowned physicist Dr. Michio Kaku, who will discuss the theoretical science behind the show’s sci-fi concepts.

Nathan Fillion has been cast as the next Green Lantern … wait, what?
Don’t worry, fans: Fillion (Firefly) is not taking over for Ryan Reynolds in the second Green Lantern movie, assuming that the first one—due out this summer—is a monster hit. Instead, TV Guide reports that Fillion will voice the role of Green Lantern Hal Jordan in the new animated DC movie, Green Lantern: Emerald Nights, due out on DVD on June 7th.
