I’ve got some catching up to do.
A clearly distraught Director Faber pointed out to me the other day that I have not been posting new episodes of the Needless Things Podcast here on the ESO Network page. At the time I couldn’t remember why, so I just told him that I’ve only actually done two episodes and it’s not like I have the manliness or intestinal fortitude to produce multiple podcasts in a single week like he does. I’m lucky if I can muster the will to crank out one every six weeks.
Which is why I am only now producing my third episode since the beginning of 2013.
This week, Mike, Mike, and the 2013 Pulp Ark Award-Winning Best Author Bobby Nash give the spinner rack a few turns and take a look at some of our favorite graphic novels and collected trades – no capes allowed! Joining us for some comic chat are Doctor Q (The Rachet Retrocast), Jason De La Torre (Transmissions from Atlantis), and Josh Wilson (Mad Norwegian Press). We are also joined by writer Mark Ellis, who discusses the very superhero-ish team, the Justice Machine. But can they save him from the dreaded fate that is The Geek Seat? Tune in for the answer, plus the usual Rants, Raves, Khan Report, and Shout Outs!
Interested in The Doctor, but don’t know where to start? This is the episode for you! Mike, Mike, and The Phantom Troublemaker confer with guests Alan Siler (
The ESO crew takes a look back at the year that was 2012 they only way they know how – by strapping it down to The Geek Seat! Mike, Mike, Bobby and special guests William Faber, Niki Rau-Baker, Josh Wilson, and The Phantom Troublemaker deal the skinny on the highs and lows of the year that was. Plus, reveal their hopes and dreams for 2013! We also chat with Ciara Powell about the upcoming Swampcon event in Gainesville, FL.
After a seven year hiatus, The Doctor returns! That’s the good news! The bad news? He’s on FOX! Mike, Mike and Dave with special guests Bobby Nash and Josh Wilson share their thoughts on the all-too-short outing of The Eight Doctor. Plus, a Hurricane Who report from Mark Heffernan!
Once again, Bobby Nash takes command and leads us through the jumpgate to revisit Babylon 5. Mike and Mike are joined by Van Allen Plexico and Josh Wilson for the second part of our discussion on the groundbreaking series. We also turn the tables on author/interrogator Paul Bishop by strapping him to The Geek Seat! Plus, Marc Ballard joins us to promote the next convention you’ll find the ESO crew, the Nashville Comic and Horror Show! All this, along with the usual Rants, Raves, Khan Report, and Shout Outs!
For the first time, hosts from all the ESO Network of podcasts sat down and recorded together! And what better subject than the greatness that was Dragon*Con 2012? Featuring ESO’s Mike, Mike, Bobby, and William, Phantom Troublemaker from Earth Station Who, Jason & Rita from Transmissions from Atlantis, Dr. Scott from Doctor Geek’s Laboratory, and Darren Nowell and MaryLouWho from the ESO Dragon*Khan Special Reports. Plus, Friends of the Station Mark Maddox, Bill Kielhorn, Peter Cutler, and Josh Wilson. This is the secret ESO panel that all the track directors didn’t want to happen, but could not be stopped! Like the convention itself, this episode contains hard language, substance abuse, reports of nudity, and intense geekery.
On this special episode, the ESW crew travel to Titans Comics in Duluth, GA to meet The Forgotten Doctor! Mike, Mike, and Dave chat with Richard Hempton and Jevocas Green, the folks behind the new web series. We also meet a plethora of Doctors, personified by Andy Koehler (9), Skyler Simpson (10) and “John Smith” (11). And if that wasn’t fantastic and brilliant enough, we also we also say “Geronimo” to friends of the station Bobby Nash, William Faber, Josh Wilson, and Sacha Dzuba. It’s enough fun to fill a TARDIS!
On this episode, we once again dock with the Red Dwarf and review the final two seasons of the show along with the Back to Earth mini-series. Mike, Mike, and Bobby are joined by podcaster Josh Wilson and author Bernadette Johnson as they dodge nanobots, overgrown birds named Pete, despair squids, and Captain Hollister and smoke themselves a kipper and finish their thoughts by breakfast. Plus, we also chat with Jan Lucanus and the folks behind the “Justice for Hire” series as they reveal what’s next for the franchise. And we have an ESO first, a father and son Geek Seat! All this and Khan crew member Mark Hefferenan reports from the Chicago Comic Con, along with the usual Rants, Raves, and Shout Outs
