StarMage Needs Your KickStarter Support!

STARMAGE-00-CVRHey Atlanteans and all of our Earth Station One listeners! Yours truly, JC De La Torre of Transmissions From Atlantis, has launched a kickstarter campaign for our comic book StarMage.

You can find it here: http://kck.st/10BwYDB

Star Mage is about Darien Connors, a gifted 14 year old boy who discovers that not only is he not human but he’s part of an ancient war between alien magical races. While he learns of his legacy, destiny and importance to the battle, Darien establishes bonds with new, strange friends and learns his magical craft of Kishpu.

The first series consists of all of these elements as well as setting up the mythology of the Sarru Kishpu, the world of Eridu and their enemies. We’re introduced to Darien’s three friends – Unura, Tirwa and Anthaar – each aliens with their own powers that become crucial in the end game against their hated enemy Orasmas Xul Sarrum. We’re introduced to the school – Lambdu Kishpu. We learn of the hierarchy of the royal court and parliament of Eridu. While the story starts on Earth, we will be taken to the far reaches of the galaxy, meet new races and discover strange new worlds.

The first issue was illustrated by comic industry veteran and ultra-talented Ray Dillon, whose credits include the Game of Thrones webcomic, NY Times best selling graphic novel The Last Unicorn and RL Stine’s web comic series.

We’re hoping to fund the completion of the first book and begin Issue #2 of the six issue mini-series but we can’t do it without your support!

If you’re unable to assist monetarily, passing the word to your comic loving friends and fam will be just as good!

Appreciate the support folks, thanks!

TFA Episode 13 – Part Two – The One Where JC and Rita Fight Through Con Crud to Continue Reviewing Dragon Con

Listen to Part One of Episode 13

Whenever you attend a major con with a number of people, there’s a significant chance you may develop a cold. After all, being in contact with so many other sniffling, wheezing and coughing sickos can leave you with a lasting effect. This is called Con Crud and both hosts of Transmissions From Atlantis have been infected. It’s okay though, we’re not turning into Zombies or going off the deep end. We’re troopers and we fight through said Crud to bring you Part Two of Episode 13 – our Dragon*Con review.

In this episode, we give you scoop on the host hotels, we go into detail about the Dragon*Con Parade and we share with you our experience meeting Sylvester McCoy, the 7th Doctor (and one of the stars of the new Lord of the Rings flick – the Hobbit). We’ll also tell you which Doctor Who panel was the best of Dragon*Con and take you inside one of the panels with John Barrowman and Kai Owen, stars of Torchwood.

Check it out!

The Schedule follows after the Jump!

Transmissions From Atlantis – Episode 12 – The One That Previews Dragon*Con

We’re on the eve of the greatest fan run Sci-Fi Con in the U.S. (and maybe the world) and TFA is all in! In this episode we give you the low down on the costumes we will be wearing and our entire schedule for Dragon*Con (subject to change).

We’ll also preview Doctor Who at Dragon*Con, Pond’s Life and the Series 7 premiere.

Rita’s Reading Review returns with George R.R. Martin’s A Dance of Dragons – the fifth book of the Song of Fire and Ice Series (Game of Thrones for you uninitiated).

Remember last week how we told you how much we loved Being Human (U.K.)? What a difference a week makes! JC and Rita lose their minds in a rant over series 3 and 4 during our Retro Review. Be warned – if you haven’t seen series 3 or 4 and don’t want to be spoiled – you MUST fast forward past this section. There is major spoilage in this segment.

We also give you our review of True Blood’s season finale – Save Yourself. One word – WOW! There are spoilers here, too. Consider yourself warned.

As always, the schedule and pertinent links are after the jump!
