StarMage Needs Your KickStarter Support!

STARMAGE-00-CVRHey Atlanteans and all of our Earth Station One listeners! Yours truly, JC De La Torre of Transmissions From Atlantis, has launched a kickstarter campaign for our comic book StarMage.

You can find it here: http://kck.st/10BwYDB

Star Mage is about Darien Connors, a gifted 14 year old boy who discovers that not only is he not human but he’s part of an ancient war between alien magical races. While he learns of his legacy, destiny and importance to the battle, Darien establishes bonds with new, strange friends and learns his magical craft of Kishpu.

The first series consists of all of these elements as well as setting up the mythology of the Sarru Kishpu, the world of Eridu and their enemies. We’re introduced to Darien’s three friends – Unura, Tirwa and Anthaar – each aliens with their own powers that become crucial in the end game against their hated enemy Orasmas Xul Sarrum. We’re introduced to the school – Lambdu Kishpu. We learn of the hierarchy of the royal court and parliament of Eridu. While the story starts on Earth, we will be taken to the far reaches of the galaxy, meet new races and discover strange new worlds.

The first issue was illustrated by comic industry veteran and ultra-talented Ray Dillon, whose credits include the Game of Thrones webcomic, NY Times best selling graphic novel The Last Unicorn and RL Stine’s web comic series.

We’re hoping to fund the completion of the first book and begin Issue #2 of the six issue mini-series but we can’t do it without your support!

If you’re unable to assist monetarily, passing the word to your comic loving friends and fam will be just as good!

Appreciate the support folks, thanks!

TFA Episode 6 – Sci Fi/Horror Shows We Miss and The River/Captain Jack Who Spinoff

Okay, so better late than never – right? TFA Episode 6 is coming at you with our biggest show ever. While sometimes bigger doesn’t mean better – in this case it most certainly is. We give you the news of the weird with testicle eating Fish and an ex-CIA agent claiming the Roswell Crash was really extra-terrestrial (no duh).  We give you the skinny on just which villain Benedict Cumberbatch is playing in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek 2. Rita accuses JC of crushing on the naked Nathan Fillion (of Firefly). Rita goes bonkers for the return of Sailor Moon. We also give our review of the new hit film The Amazing Spider-Man.

Then we go off the deep end, talking about Sci-Fi and Horror shows that are no longer on the air and we miss dearly (Yes Firefly, Stargate SG-1 and Buffy are on the list – among many others).

We have a new segment this week – the Retro Review – where we’ll give a new review of old tv shows and movies. In our Transmissions Received segment, we have best selling author of the Wool series, Hugh Howey in for a chat on remarkable trip to the top of the Amazon Best Seller charts as an independent author.

Rita goes Harry Potter nutzo as we review the book series in Rita’s Reading Review and preview Ascendio 2012 – the Con later this week in Orlando, Florida.

We have more naked John Barrowman (Torchwood) discussion, could River and Captain Jack end up in a spinoff series (we had it first)? Plus other Doctor Who news.

We wrap up this marathon session by reviewing the last two episodes of True Blood.

We are packed to the gills…watch out!

Rowling just killed that Potter encyclopedia we were waiting for

Rowling just killed that Potter encylcopedia we were waiting forBy Matthew Jackson, Source: Blastr.com

Even before the Harry Potter novels were finished, J. K. Rowling was teasing us with the idea of an encyclopedia detailing all the magical ins and outs of the Wizarding World. She always said the book would take a while, but now it seems she could be abandoning the idea entirely. Why?

Last we heard about the encyclopedia, it was one of those things Rowling would get done somewhere down the road, with all the proceeds going to charity. But a new update to the FAQ section on Rowling’s official site seems to put those plans in serious jeopardy.

J.K. Rowling teases with news of a post-Potter novel for grown-ups

J.K. Rowling plans for post Harry Potter BookBy Marc Bernardin, Source: Blastr.com

Even though writing for children has made her rich beyond the dreams of mortal man, J.K. Rowling has announced that her next novel will be “very different from the Harry Potter series.” And she’s already signed the deal for its release.

Details, as you can imagine, are scarce at this point: All that’s known is that an announcement about the title and time of release will come later in the year. To wit, Rowling released a statement that doesn’t clear up too much:

“Although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series, which has been published so brilliantly by Bloomsbury and my other publishers around the world. The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry’s success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher. I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life.”

Daniel Radcliffe ‘shocked by David Yates Doctor Who movie speculation’

He will not be playing the Doctor, THANK G_D!!!By Ryan Love, Source: Digital Spy

Daniel Radcliffe has distanced himself from taking on the lead role in director David Yates’s Doctor Who movie.

Yates – who directed Radcliffe in his final four Harry Potter outings – confirmed the project late last year, revealing that he planned to spend “two to three years” working on taking the BBC series to a “bigger arena”. Continue reading
