Fringe To Get Fifth And Final Season Of Thirteen Episodes

A deal has been closed for Fringe to get thirteen final episodes to round out its story and wrap up nicely. Well, in theory at least. Bad Robot television had a much longer to prepare for the ending of Lost and that still left most viewers at least a little niggled.

It seems that Bad Robot will have dropped their price to ensure Fox could – or rather, would – afford the new series. This will likely translate into lower budgets for the episodes, but it’s not necessarily so. Continue reading

If Fox says no, could Fringe move to The CW for season 5?

Fringe to the CW, maybe?By Trent Moore, Source: Blastr.com

While we wait with bated breath to learn whether Fox will bring the beloved sci-fi drama Fringe back for a fifth season, there’s a new rumor that the show could potentially find second life in an admittedly unlikely place.

We already know the producers have a comic book contingency plan if Fox pulls the plug, TV Guide’s guru Matt Roush has now raised the question of how likely it could be for the show to move to another network. Namely, The CW. Continue reading

Fringe producers shot TWO season finales. Which will we see?

Which Fringe Season Final will we see?? Dose Waler Know?? MabyeBy Trent Moore, Source: Blastr.com

With the fate of Fox’s Fringe still up in the air, the cast recently opened up about just how prepared they are if the current fourth season turns out to be the last. The most interesting tidbit? They’ve apparently shot two potential endings, depending on if the series gets a last minute pickup.

John Noble (Walter Bishop) told TV Line they have two potential final scenes in the bag, which will either wrap up the current storylines, or leave one more thread open for another season. Continue reading

Netflix Eyes Cancelled Drama ‘Terra Nova’

Terra Nova Might be Saved By Netflix?? MaybeBy NELLIE ANDREEVA , Source: Deadline.com

Netflix is already bringing back one cancelled 20th Century Fox TV series, the Emmy-winning Arrested Development. Now the video streaming giant is taking a look at another, drama Terra Nova. I hear that 20th TV and Netflix have been in talks about keeping the pre-historic drama alive. My sources stress that the conversations are preliminary and it is unclear if they will materialize into a negotiation, but for fans of the series left heartbroken by Fox’s decision on Monday not to pick it up for a second season, this is still encouraging news. Immediately after Fox made its cancellation decision, 20th TV made it clear that it would try hard to find a new home for the series and shop it to other networks. Continue reading

Fox declares Terra Nova extinct—but could it find a new home?

Could Terra Nova be saved?? let's hopeBy Trent Moore, Source: Bleastr.com

Save your plastic dinosaurs. It seems middling ratings and a pricey budget is all it took to kill Fox’s time-traveling dinosaur drama Terra Nova—no asteroid or ice age required.

TV Line is reporting that Fox has pulled the plug on the Steven Spielberg-led series after just one season, leaving fans hanging on an intriguing cliffhanger. Continue reading

TV site predicts Fringe and Alcatraz will be canceled, Terra Nova in trouble

Kissing Alcatraz bye bye??By Matthew Jackson, Source: Blastr.com

We’ve been talking for weeks about the eventual fates of Fox’s Fringe and Terra Nova, and the promise (or lack thereof) of the new drama Alcatraz. The network itself hasn’t ruled on any of the shows just yet, but if you believe certain TV experts, all three could be doomed.

Robert Seidman, over at TV by the Numbers, predicted today that both Fringe—which continues to battle low numbers in the midst of its fourth season—and Alcatraz—which is losing viewers weekly after just five episodes—will get the boot sometime soon. Continue reading

FOX exec attacks Prometheus leaks as ‘heartbreakingly unfair’

Fox Lashing Out at Promethius CriticsBy Matthew Jackson, Source: Blastr.com

A few days ago the ‘net got a glimpse of what appeared to be a very poor-quality version of the as-yet-unofficial trailer for Ridley Scott’s mysterious Prometheus. The film has been under such tight wraps that we’re hungry for any glimpse we get, but Fox Filmed Entertainment CEO Tom Rothman was not amused.

In fact, he warned us all that the footage we saw was just “half-assed,” and the real deal is coming soon. Continue reading

Fox threatens to cancel The Simpsons unless cast takes a pay cut

Can The Simpsons keep going?By Marc Bernardin, Source: Blastr.com

Fox’s animated series, the longest running scripted program in the history of television, is in danger of disappearing from the airwaves if Fox can’t convince the voice cast to voluntarily reduce their salaries.

A statement released by Fox claims that:

“23 seasons in, The Simpsons is as creatively vibrant as ever and beloved by millions around the world … We believe this brilliant series can and should continue, but we cannot produce future seasons under its current financial model.”

DC Comics superhero The Spectre may be heading to FOX

Spectre coming to Fox??By HitFix Staff

FOX is developing a drama series based on the supernatural DC Comics character The Spectre.
The Spectre, created by Jerry Siegel (co-creator of Superman) and Bernard Bailey in 1940, is an ex-cop stuck in an eternal afterlife, where he exacts vengeance upon mortal criminals in the name of their dead victims. The character has gone through many iterations in the DC universe, lately being hosted by several different characters. The Spectre’s fantastical elements give the project the potential to go beyond the typical superhero genre tropes and more into the realm of fantasy and horror.

The network ordered a script for the show this week, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Brandon Camp (the short-lived FOX sci-fi show “John Doe”) is working on the script for exec producer Bill Gerber (“Gran Torino”). Continue reading
