MEET ESO/ESW HOSTS THIS SATURDAY, NOV. 17TH AT TIMEGATE

I’ll join my Earth Station Who cohorts for the Timegate Presents… The Doctor Who (almost!) 50th Anniversary Party on Saturday, November 17th. It’s all the fun of Timegate squeezed into one day. We’ll be on hand for panels and recording segments for the Earth Station Who podcast. ESO will also be part of a Season 7 so far panel at 6 p.m.

DOCTOR WHO GOES PULP

Coming soon from BBC Books is a new Doctor Who tie-in e-book entitled The Angel’s Kiss: A Melody Malone Mystery featuring a very pulp-inspired cover. The cover also appears in The Angels Take Manhattan episode of Doctor Who, airing September 29 on BBC and BBC America.

Earth Station Who Episode 15: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship

Jurassic arc in space! Leave it to Doctor Who to mash up our two favorite childhood fan-loves. Mike, Mike, Dave and Bobby are joined by Jonathan Thomas (www.anglotopia.net) as passengers on the prehistoric, intergalactic fun ride that is the second episode of the seventh series. We are also joined by TimeGate’s Alan Siler, who announces the 2013 Guest of Honor for the show – there will be a Doctor at the con!

Transmissions From Atlantis Episode 10 – The One About JC and Rita’s Bloopers and Dragon*Con

You thought you got rid of us didn’t you? No! We’re back for our double figures-sode Episode 10. After a one week hiatus to finish off our TFA Teaches You Who video project, we’re back in our crazy full effect for you, our beloved listeners.

First, in celebration of reaching a milestone that many startup podcasts never reach, we’re going to give you a quick peek behind the curtain and give you some stuff that you’d never hear in the final edited broadcast of the show. We’re also going to give you our thoughts on how it’s gone so far and where we see the show going in the future.

We’re going to give you the scoop on a steamy affair from two of the most well known actors from the legendary sci-fi show X-Files.

Mike Faber has beamed down from the mothership to give us the lowdown on the largest fan run Sci-Fi Con in America – Dragon*Con.

This Weekend Meet ESO Co-Host Mike Gordon at HeroesCon!

This weekend, the Charlotte, NC show celebrates its 30th anniversary and promises to be better than ever! Mike Gordon will be at Artist Alley table #451, which is near “Indie Island,” so if you’re touring the island, keep an eye out for the tiki! Alongside Mike will be Friend-of-the-Station Peter Cutler, artist of Tiki Zombie, who will be available for sketches all weekend. ESO listeners will get a special discount on anything available on the table, so be sure to stop by and say “Howdy!”

Earth Station One Episode 113: Convention Madness

This past weekend, the Earth Station One crew had a grand ol’ time at the TimeGate convention in Atlanta, GA! Mike, Mike, and ESW co-host Phantom Troublemaker were featured panelists on a variety of topics and even got the chance to sit down for a few minutes with Caitlin Blackwood (Amelia Pond on Doctor Who). We also visited with Friends of the Station new and old and we thank all those who helped make the weekend so enjoyable! Meanwhile, Bobby Nash travelled to Birmingham, AL and he shares his great memories of the debut of the Alabama Phoenix Festival.

Doctor Who to Release Mini-Episode Next Week

Doctor Who will be returning to television next week. A mini-episode, based upon the winning entry for this year’s Script to Screen competition, will air Thursday in the UK during the CBBC channel series Blue Peter at 5:45pm.

Script to Screen is a competition in which primary school children aged 9 to 11 years old write and submit scripts. The winning entry each year is adapted into a mini-episode. Last year’s episode was the zany outing “Death is the Only Answer,” which saw saw Albert Einstein mysteriously appear in the TARDIS before being transformed into an Ood and back. It wasn’t exactly “Blink,” but it was a fun outing nonetheless.

Thursday’s mini-episode has a bit of a current topic: it’s based around the 2012 Olympics (which are taking place in London). Matt Smith will appear as the Doctor, though it’s unknown who else (if anyone else) will feature into the episode.

Doctor Who has previously featured the Olympic Games in the second series episode “Fear Her,” which saw the Doctor (then played by David Tennant) visit the then-future 2012 Olympic Games and light the Olympic Torch. “Fear Her” is widely considered as one of revived series’ worst episodes. Perhaps these primary schoolers can save the Olympics for the Doctor.

Doctor Who will not return as a series proper until August, when its seventh season premieres. The series will be the final one to feature Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill as the Doctor’s companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams; Gillan and Darvill wrapped filming earlier this week.
