Transmissions From Atlantis – Episode 7: Ascendio 2012

It’s a very special TFA Episode this week as we focus on the Harry Potter convention Ascendio 2012. We’ll take you deep inside the con with discussions on Muggle Quidditch, Chris Rankin’s (Percy Weasely) Q&A, the Quill Track and JC’s Wardrobe malfunction. We’ll also interview facebook cosplay legends Perseus and Draco LePage, hosts of Ascendio 2012′s Fashion ball.

We’ll also talk a little Artemis Fowl in Rita’s Reading Review and we’ll give you the scoopage on Doctor Who at San Diego ComiCon.

We’ll wrap it up with our review of True Blood episode 6 – Hopeless.

It’s a big episode but we bring you the very essence of one of the best Harry Potter cons we’ve attended.

TFA Episode 6 – Sci Fi/Horror Shows We Miss and The River/Captain Jack Who Spinoff

Okay, so better late than never – right? TFA Episode 6 is coming at you with our biggest show ever. While sometimes bigger doesn’t mean better – in this case it most certainly is. We give you the news of the weird with testicle eating Fish and an ex-CIA agent claiming the Roswell Crash was really extra-terrestrial (no duh).  We give you the skinny on just which villain Benedict Cumberbatch is playing in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek 2. Rita accuses JC of crushing on the naked Nathan Fillion (of Firefly). Rita goes bonkers for the return of Sailor Moon. We also give our review of the new hit film The Amazing Spider-Man.

Then we go off the deep end, talking about Sci-Fi and Horror shows that are no longer on the air and we miss dearly (Yes Firefly, Stargate SG-1 and Buffy are on the list – among many others).

We have a new segment this week – the Retro Review – where we’ll give a new review of old tv shows and movies. In our Transmissions Received segment, we have best selling author of the Wool series, Hugh Howey in for a chat on remarkable trip to the top of the Amazon Best Seller charts as an independent author.

Rita goes Harry Potter nutzo as we review the book series in Rita’s Reading Review and preview Ascendio 2012 – the Con later this week in Orlando, Florida.

We have more naked John Barrowman (Torchwood) discussion, could River and Captain Jack end up in a spinoff series (we had it first)? Plus other Doctor Who news.

We wrap up this marathon session by reviewing the last two episodes of True Blood.

We are packed to the gills…watch out!

The schedule and links are after the jump!

Transmissions From Atlantis Officially Part of Ascendio 2012

Transmissions From Atlantis is deeply honored to be accepted as a podcaster for Ascendio 2012. We will be broadcasting from the Common Room at the Loewes Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando from 10am to 11am. We’ll of course be attending the Con, so you’ll also see us around. While Rita will be in CosPlay as Narcissa Malfoy, I’ll be wearing my trademark hat (hats are cool) and various Doctor Who T-Shirts.

Is amazing to see our tiny little podcast actually on the Ascendio 2012 schedule among well known podcasts like the legendary Mugglecast.

If you’re attending Ascendio 2012, be sure to stop by the common room and join us!

Fresh off our invasion of Earth Station One – we’re back on the underwater continent with prisoners! Mike Faber, creator of Earth Station One, joins us for an interview during our Transmissions Received segment. We also review Disney/Pixar’s new hit animated movie, Brave.

Star Trek II – The Wrath of Khan has reached 30 years. We talk about our favorite moments in Khan and discuss the original crew movie franchise in general.

We do an autopsy on Sanctuary, we put Eureka in hospice and we lament the decline of Sci-Fi Channel since it became SYFY.

We asked the questions – Why did John Carter fail and Why do you hate Walking Dead’s little Huck Finn, Carl?

News of the weird gives us another example of the oncoming Zombie Apocalypse while letting you know that we may also have an Alien and Vampire Apocalypses as well!

More after the jump!
