Toy Review – Avengers Loki By Hasbro

Hey there, ESO-keteers! (what?) I’m back with some more toy reviews that you can only see right here on the Earth Station One Network!

For now, anyway.

I didn’t think I had a chance in heck of finding these new Marvel Legends scale Avengers movie figures. Hasbro made the terrible decision to make them Walmart Exclusives, and that often works out poorly.

Before lucking out and finding Loki, Hulk, and Hawkeye the other day (no Black Widow, apparently – or maybe she’ll be a CVS Exclusive or some nonsense); I had only seen Captain America and Iron Man from this line. I certainly don’t need another Iron Man and I’m not sure I like the Cap. He’s kind of too bright and doesn’t seem to have enough painted detail. I mean, he does look like he looked in the movie, but for some reason the figure just seems kind of simple and cartoony to me. I know I’m likely to end up buying him at some point, though. There’s also a sort of new Thor. It’s the same as a previously released movie Thor, just without the helmet. I don’t need it, but if you want to gaze upon Chris Hemsworth’s golden locks you should keep an eye out.

TFA Episode 6 Coming Tomorrow!

Hey there gang. Well, leave it to us beach bums to slack off during our holiday. We’re going to be a day late on our latest Episode of Transmissions From Atlantis. Sorry about that.

But to make up for it, we’re putting together a banging show. We’ll have Doctor Who, the Amazing Spider-Man, Harry Potter, Ascendio 2012 and we’ll receive the transmission of best selling author Hugh Howey. We’re going to talk about our favorite sci-fi and Horror shows that have gone to that big nebula in the sky and tell you which ones we miss the most. What’s yours?

And if that’s not enough – we’ll discuss both Captain Jack Harkness and Captain Mal Reynolds NAKED!

It’s, as they say in the movie business, coming soon to a podcast near you!

Movie review: ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ turns out to be pretty amazing

By Ashley Bergner, Box Office Buzz

I’ll admit it — when I first heard Marvel was rebooting the Spider-Man film franchise, I wasn’t overly excited. It’s only been about five years since Sam Raimi finished up his trilogy of Spider-Man movies, and overall, those films were well received by critics and fans. Doing a reboot this soon seemed a little much.

However, regardless of whether or not the Spider-Man franchise really needed a reboot, “The Amazing Spider-Man” (which was released in theaters July 3) turns out to be pretty amazing. It utilizes the best themes from the original Spider-Man trilogy, but also tells its own story and features a fresh look at the character Peter Parker, played this time around by Andrew Garfield.
