Daniel Craig to make appearance as ‘James Bond’ during coverage of the 2012 Olympics

A certain famous British spy will be helping to kick off the BBC’s coverage of the 2012 London Olympics.

Daniel Craig, who played James Bond in the recent films “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace,” will be featured in a skit called “The Arrival.”

According to U.K. news organization “The Guardian,” 007 travels to Buckingham Palace, where he’s informed he has been assigned to help launch the 2012 Olympic Games. He will be taken by helicopter to the Olympic stadium, where he will parachute into the arena. The short film will be broadcast during the BBC’s coverage of the opening ceremony. Continue reading

Homeland Security wants to deploy Minority Report pre-crime tech

Lifting a page from Philip K. Dick’s book, the Department of Homeland Security is in the early stages of developing something called FAST that, when it’s installed at an airport near you, will attempt to catch terrorists before they strike. Maybe.

FAST stands for Future Attribute Screening Technology, and the program will, according to The Atlantic, “remotely monitor physiological and behavioral cues, like elevated heart rate, eye movement, body temperature, facial patterns, and body language, and analyze these cues algorithmically for statistical aberrance in an attempt to identify people with nefarious intentions.” Continue reading

I took a trip on the Disney theme park attraction Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride once. It involved a lot of keeping my eyes shut and covering my ears. It’s a trip straight to hell, don’t you know.

Very, very creepy.

The ride was based on Disney’s short toon of the same name, adapting a segment of The Wind in the Willows. The next iteration in this chain is to be a full length feature. Continue reading
