‘Hunger Games’ continues to top the box office

The odds apparently are still in “The Hunger Games’” favor — the Lionsgate film based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling young adult novel topped the box office for the second week in a row.

According to the Internet Movie Database, the film took in about $61 million over the weekend in the United States, even beating out two high-profile new releases: “Mirror Mirror,” a retelling of the Snow White fairy tale, took in about $20 million, and the Greek mythological epic “Wrath of the Titans” took in about $35 million. With its seventh season winding down on The CW, it wouldn’t be crazy to think the low-rated but beloved monster-hunting series Supernatural might not be long for this world. But don’t tell that to series co-star Jared Padalecki, because he’s already looking forward to season eight.

Talking to Crave Online, Padalecki (Sam Winchester) said he thinks the show is doing well creatively, and that fans would continue to stick around if the series were to come back. Continue reading

Grundy’s Web Pick of the Week: @ThatKevinSmith

It’s unclear how much feedback the average celebrity reads on Twitter. I imagine the reply feed of the stars needs a steady refresh to keep up with the “love you, man”s and the “you suck”s of the unwashed masses. I say it is unclear because I rarely see @ replies to respond with follower inquires from the average celebrity. Today’s review isn’t for this celebrity, it’s for @ThatKevinSmith.

Silent Bob is on the other side of the spectrum. He @ replies a lot. Some say too much. Any web savvy fan of the director knows that Kevin Smith is anything but silent. His podcast, called SModcast, is even more dialogue heavy than his films, and word for word, probably funnier. If you’re not prudish in your content selection, I recommend you check it out.
