Shall We Play a Game "AGAIN"by: Ben Silverman for Yahoo.com

Global thermonuclear war is coming back to a theater near you. And, fittingly, a gamer is helping make it happen.

Deadline reports that the 1983 film ‘WarGames’ is getting rebooted by MGM, who have tapped Seth Gordon — the man behind the acclaimed video game documentary ‘The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters’ — to direct.

Court: Calif. can’t ban violent video game sales

Violent Video Game are it!!by: Jesse J. Holland, Associated Press

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to let California regulate the sale or rental of violent video games to children, saying governments do not have the power to “restrict the ideas to which children may be exposed” despite complaints about graphic violence.

On a 7-2 vote, the high court upheld a federal appeals court decision to throw out the state’s ban on the sale or rental of violent video games to minors. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Sacramento had ruled that the law violated minors’ rights under the First Amendment, and the high court agreed.

Warner Bros. to Pursue ‘Green Lantern’ Sequel

More Green Lantern in our future.. I guess so..by Pamela McClintock, for the Hollywood Reporter

Warner Bros. is already planning a sequel to Ryan Reynolds’ superhero pic Green Lantern, despite the film’s soft performance at the box office.

Sources say Warners still believes in the franchise, even if the studio is “somewhat disappointed” with Green Lantern’s result.

Over the weekend, Green Lantern fell a steep 66% at the domestic box office, grossing $18.4 million for a cume of $89.3 million. That’s a big decline.

Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman said the movie is settling in, pointing out that fanboy pics often see a significant drop-off in their second weekends.

Gene Colan passes at 84, R.I.P. Gene..By Albert Ching, Newsarama

Legendary comic book artist Gene Colan has passed away at age 84, as first reported on the personal blog of writer Clifford Meth.

Colan had nearly 70 years of experience in the comic book industry, including work in the 1940s for Marvel’s precursor Timely Comics. Colan went on to draw several Marvel icons, including Iron Man (in Tales of Suspense), Doctor Strange, and a seven-year run on Daredevil between 1966 and 1973. 7 sci-fi book-to-film adaptations that TOTALLY changed the ending

Happry Endings, I don't think so??By Evan Hoovler, Blastr.com

It’s okay for a film to modify a book a little for the sake of the medium. Heck, if they made A Tale of Two Cities into a movie today we’d expect at least 10 explosions and a hostage standoff. But in the case of some sci-fi films, the book’s ending was completely thrown out in favor of a new plot twist.

We took a look back at the most radical book-to-film ending changes, and determined if they were better or worse than the original conclusion.

A week ago, a new site simply titled Pottermore was launched, and Harry Potter fans by the millions came to scratch their heads at it. What could it possibly be? Today, J.K. Rowling herself announced what Pottermore is and what it will mean for all the would-be sorcerers out there.

“Superman” #712 Changes Draw Questions On Content

DC Comics Skirting Contraversey??by Kiel Phegley, CBR.com

Last night, DC Comics sent out one of their regular “Direct Channel” e-mail newsletters to retailers, and in between announcements of ordering deadlines, issue sellouts and trade paperback reprints came much more unexpected news: that June 22′s “Superman” #712 would ship with entirely new contents than had been previously solicited by the publisher.

Originally, the issue was set to be the latest chapter in “Grounded” – the Man of Steel story begun by J. Michael Straczynski and continued by Chris Roberson focusing on Superman’s walk across America – with a special focusing on the establishment of a Muslim superhero called Sharif in Los Angeles. Instead, the comic will carry a story by Kurt Busiek and Rick Leonardi featuring Krypto the Superdog which was originally created then shelved during Busiek’s run on the title circa 2007.

10 Most Important RELAUNCHES in Comic Book History

Heroes Reborn.. was it important
By Newsarama.com

To the comic book industry, it’s certainly surprising that a major publisher like DC Entertainment would relaunch 52 titles with revised continuity and new #1s.

And for long-time collectors of Uncanny X-Men, it’s shocking to think the comic will start over with a new #1 in November.

But the idea of relaunching comics isn’t exactly a new one.

Over the years, it’s become fairly common to “start over” a comic’s numbering. Some titles start over every few years. Just ask a comic shop for Captain America #1 and you’ll get the answer, “Which one?”
