HBO Developing Neil Gaiman’s ‘American Gods’ for Series

Gaiman coming to HBOHBO is so confident that Game of Thrones is going to be successful it’s already discussing a second season before the first episode has even aired. Now the network is eyeing a new book to develop into a series: the fabulous American Gods, written by Neil Gaiman.

And the series would be brought to you by … Tom Hanks.

To be more precise, Playtone, Tom Hanks’ production company, would be developing American Gods for the small screen. (Previous Playtone productions for HBO include Big Love, John Adams, Band of Brothers and From the Earth to the Moon).

The archaeologist hero of movies, television and video games has been protecting the artifacts of ancient civilizations from criminals and the forces of evil for over thirty years. Now fact and fiction collide in Indiana Jones and the Adventure of Archaeology, a touring exhibition that combines the popular hero’s exploits with real world artifacts to inspire another generation to explore and protect the past. Newsarama asked Kyra Bowling, the Exhibits Manager for Lucasfilm, if Indiana Jones really does belong in a museum.
